About Us
Tusitukirewamu is a membership Women’s Community Based Organisation (CBO) started in 1998 as a community initiative to address the causes and effects of domestic violence one of forms of women’s rights abuse and cause family breakage. After the realisation that domestic violence was linked to and highly accelerated the spread of HIV, the organisation was compelled to get involved in increasing community awareness on the dangers of HIV and GBV, its prevention and coping mechanisms. Our Objective
To mitigate the long-term effects of HIV/AIDS on widows, orphans and other vulnerable children the slums of Kampala. To increase awareness of Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) among the Children and Youth in and out of school. To empower women to actively participate in decision making processes in order to influence resource allocation and control in favour of the poor and excluded To strengthen community’s understanding of gender based violence, its causes and impacts on women, .men, children and the community
Core Activities
In our endeavor to empower the poor and marginalized community members especially the women, People Having AIDs (PHAs), Orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and female youth,our organisation implements the following activities aimed at equipping the targeted beneficiaries with skills that enable them to demand for their rights at household, community and national levels. Thus the key activities of the group include but are not limited to the following: Providing care and support to people having AIDS especially women and orphans.
