{"id":18,"date":"2014-08-12T06:26:45","date_gmt":"2014-08-12T06:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tusitukirewamu.pirengo.org\/?page_id=18"},"modified":"2014-08-12T06:26:45","modified_gmt":"2014-08-12T06:26:45","slug":"core-activities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tusitukirewamu.engoindia.org\/?page_id=18","title":{"rendered":"Core Activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In our endeavor to empower the poor and marginalized community members especially the women, People Having AIDs (PHAs), Orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and female youth,our organisation implements the following activities aimed at equipping the targeted beneficiaries with skills that enable them to demand for their rights at household, community and national levels. Thus the key activities of the group include but are\u00a0 not limited to the following:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Providing care and support to people having AIDS especially women and orphans. This involves counseling, making referrals, and providing foodstuffs.<\/li>\n<li>Conducting voluntary HIV\/AIDS counseling and refer community members after counseling to Health centers for HIV testing and treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Providing nutritional support to families stricken by HIV and AIDS in order to improve their livelihoods. 75 families have benefited from this project<\/li>\n<li>Providing basic education support to 33 children orphaned due to HIV and AIDS. We pay school fees and provide other assorted school requirements for these children who are in primary level<\/li>\n<li>Providing credit to women through a Savings and Credit scheme under which enables them to generate income and\u00a0 save<\/li>\n<li>Promoting income generation through mushroom growing in order to boost nutrition for people having AIDS and improve their incomes<\/li>\n<li>Mobilising women to actively participate in decision making processes in order to influence resource allocation and control in favor of women and other marginalized groups like youth, orphans, sex workers and People Living with HIV\/AIDS<\/li>\n<li>Mobilising and educating commercial sex workers about their sexual reproductive health and rights.
